Japanese Prints

After giving the children a short introduction on Japanese printing art, we mainly focused on the work of the artist Katsushika Hokusai. The children were particularly inspired by his woodblock print series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji and the Great Wave of Kanagawa, created during the 1820s.

The children enjoyed very much becoming Japanese printers and produced amazing different coloured series of traditional subjects, adding their own personal details.
