Sandro Botticelli – tempera

Have artists always been able to buy their favorite colors from art shops? The answer is no: sometimes they had to make them themselves.
In this workshop the children therefore learnt how to create their own paint, by mixing natural pigments and egg yolk. The more their hands got dirty, the better the results!
They learnt that during the Renaissance, egg tempera was widely used by the majority of the artists to make paint. Once the colors were ready the children became restorers of Renaissance paintings.
